Sorkin wasn’t writing for it when those eps were done
Good, they’re just so so bad. It’s basically a prime example of why Americans have no idea what they’re talking about when they say they support Israel.

IS THERE ANY AARON SORKIN THAT ISN’T AWFUL?
These episodes could have been a very good effort at showing how pro-Israel the US government is and what kind of problems that causes, but no, it just buys into the rhetoric of “cycle of violence” and “Palestinians are violent and want to murder...
I may have to give up on The West Wing. The episodes on Israel-Palestine are just too awful to watch.

you know I follow you so I can see when you make fun of me, right?
I follow 3 libertarians and they always make me laugh hysterically.
I LOVE YOU
I don’t trust websites called End of the American Dream that talk about how liberty is dying in America.
Final book review for this class and I just don’t have the energy to finish the book.
Time to just write about things I don’t like, such as the formatting.
I keep on forgetting how good Jadaliyya is.

Supreme Court Strikes Down Stolen Valor: You Can... →
The Supreme Court struck down the Stolen Valor Act today, saying that the First Amendment defends a person’s right to lie — even if that person is lying about awards and medals won through military service.
The case started in 2007 when California man Xavier Alvarez was convicted under the Stolen Valor Act of 2006 — federal legislation that made it illegal for people to claim...

“In its authoritarianism, militarism and hierarchical sense of power, neo-conservatism is entriely consistent with the neo-liberal agenda of elite governance and mistrust of democracy. From this standpoint neo-conservatism appears as a mere stripping away of the veil of authoritarianism in which neo-liberalism sought to envelope itself. But neo-conservatism does propose distinctive...

David Frum is presenting an interesting argument about how this ruling is devastating for Republicans in the fall. Obama can now list all of the benefits (kids staying on longer, not being excluded for per-exististing conditions, etc.) vs. the GOP plan of … nothing.
Oh liberals arguing that because the Supreme Court ruled health care constitutional, it is constitutional. Does that logic still swing for Citizens United?

Nope. Even conservative voices were rooting for the ACA because Repubs had no answer to it.
Well, it’s nice to know our options were either a handout to insurance companies or nothing.
Time to start campaigning for single-payer.
Honest question: Has the right proposed a new solution for health care? Since their solution (mandate) was co-opted by Obama, they have to have some new idea.
Where the fuck is Heritage?

SCOTUS says your health care bill you wrote in the 90’s is constitutional and you say nothing?
BOOM! Remember that? Conservatives were for the healthcare bill before liberals were because that’s what this is: a conservative answer to healthcare reform.
I will vote for Obama if he walks out and just starts laughing midway through his speech.

I think my favorite part of this is how liberals are now saying SCOTUS is awesome (after laying the groundwork for the past several months about overreach/credibility/etc) and conservatives are now screaming about overreach. It’s like they just exchanged their talking points.
Oh, America.
Well, it’s 10 AM. I’m going back to sleep.

Watching the coverage of this is amazing. We’re literally watching narratives and discourses being born. Nobody expected this so all of the talking points are out.
Also, I’ve learned that most reporters are idiots.

I think my favorite part about capitalists/libertarians is how they just assume the world as it is today is completely natural and there’s no such as thing as historical forces that have resulted in the present condition.
It’s like they literally think the world started the moment they were born.
