Honestly, how many other ambassadors get to routinely have their opinions put into the editorial pages of leading newspapers in the country? I honestly don’t know, but my gut tells me few to none.

The settlements are not the core of the conflict. Arabs attacked us for 50 years before the first settlements were built. Netanyahu froze new construction in the settlements for an unprecedented 10 months, and still the Palestinians refused to negotiate.

There’s a lot of falsehoods in the editorial (as is customary for Oren) but these lines were my favorite. The entire nation of Israel is a colonial settlement. Also, settlements were never frozen, as B’tselem demonstrated.
